County Fair

This year the county fair lined up nicely with Aubrey's b-day (it might in the future too) and so we took that excuse to go (we didn't really need one, but it's fun to say we are celebrating). When we had gone to Draper Days back in July, they had this thing that looked like fun but the line was forever long, so we didn't. But they had it at the fair too and the wait was much shorter. It's called Bubble Rollers. Basically they are in hamster balls that are plastic balls filled with air and then they are in a shallow pool so it's extremely hard to move (no traction!). Pretty much equals hilarious. Both kids did it, though Trevor went back and forth. It was great fun to watch.
Aub's onesie has a "1" bleached in, in honor of the big day.

This is how they blew them up

Rachel got an extra long turn and she used it all! She was sweaty at the end

Trevor's turn!

Trevor cut his turn a little short because he got a little scared. Plus you can't hear except muffled sounds and it was making him anxious. Proud of him for trying!

The petting zoo was free and then you can buy little cups of food. Aubrey doesn't care for the animals. This was out of her comfort zone.

Trevor sometimes gets scared and throws the food down but he was trying to be brave

Rach is a pro at this

The goats sure knew what kids to pick on (smaller ones!)

A cute face and strong will gets you a lot in this world. That was the bigger kids' apple. Was.

It's not the big yellow slide (State Fair) but it will do...Trevor's turn

Rachel's turn. The kids went one at a time rather than side by side. Goofs.
Though parking was $1.75 and admission was free, we still managed to spend. Though we kept them to one ride and a small treat. Always fun to walk around and see the animals too.

My Baby Turns 1!

Not that my skills are so awesome, but I did want to go to some effort for this personal cake. Not that she cared, but I did.
Can't believe it's been a year since my water broke at Lagoon and we had a little 7 lb 15 oz baby 3 hours later! We love our little Burrito baby and can't imagine life without her. We had the family celebration the Sunday before her big day, so we could gather together for her. Here's some pics:
Sweet face

Her onesie has a "1" bleached into it. You can't see it so well.

Examining the cake with trepidation

All the kids were kind of making her anxious; is this really okay, Mom?

A little cake

She started crying and so I took her out. She sat on my lap and had a little more cake.

With G&G Hyte

Opening presents; big bro and sis helped with this too

Rachel gave her a little baby and she likes to kiss it
(this pic is from her actual b-day when we did family presents)

Tri, tri again

So, I've done a few races this year. So far this calendar year, I did a 5K, a triathlon, a 10K, a half marathon, a full marathon, and 2 sprint distance triathlons. I have a 10k next week and 1 or 2 more tri's and most likely a half marathon. Good stuff. Keeps me getting out and whatnot.

End of July I did the Herriman tri. The swim was in that little Blackridge res which was nice. My big bro did it with me and killed me on the bike time. I made my fam come to the finish line:
Aubrey enjoyed the medal. But that's because she can't read and so she doesn't know that they spelled "triathlon" wrong as "triathalon." (and on the shirt too).

My overall time was 1:41
The race results are here: http://trutiming.com/07_30_11_Herriman_Blackridge_Results.pdf

I have not one picture of today's race because I didn't make my family come and I didn't race with any one specifically-though, I did run into (and hung out with a bit) a good old friend from Venture Data days-Laura Anderson! Really good to catch up. This race was in Saratoga springs, where she lives. The race: was glad I had the wetsuit because we did what they call a "deep water start" where we waited in the water at the side of the dock, just treading water, until they called start for my wave. Then, (we were swimming in Utah Lake) after you swam out of the protection of the marina, the swells of water were so huge. Really hard to get into your rhythm and site your buoy when it's like that. So I muddled through. Good bike and run though. Nice course along west side of lake for the bike and in the neighborhood by the dock for the run. I finished 26th of the women and 9th in my age category with a total time of 1:27.

Snowbird

We have gone to Snowbird's summer activities in years past, and whenever we do, my husband says, we should have stayed the night. So this year, with a little planning (shocking, really), we were able to go up and spend the night. It worked out great because our passes were actually good for 24 hours, so we did some stuff when we got there, ate dinner, went swimming, and then when we woke up, we had breakfast and did the activities again! Endless fun! (No, we did have to bribe them with ice cream to even get them to leave after 24 hours of fun!) This post is heavy on pics, but I took WAY more than this. These are the highlights...

Emily on the bouncy tramp-flipping!

Rachel doing flips on the tramp

Trevor did not flip; but had fun jumping

Rachel doing more flips

The "air jumper" I didn't really understand this thing, but the kids had fun

Darren and T on the alpine slide

Emily on the alpine slide

Rachel was old enough to go by herself on this (the first time, she forgot to brake at the end-she hit the bags SO HARD! I was worried she was hurt, but she was fine)

Trevor riding the bull

Rachel about to fall off the bull

Emily and Rachel on the ropes course (she was pretty brave!)

Had to post this because it's a great shot of the long tongue

We rode the tram to the top of the mountain (11000 feet!) TONS of snow up there-but it wasn't as cold as my kids are acting like it is.

I did the tramp again-it really wears you out! (when you are old I guess...)

Rachel flipping

This was out of her comfort zone to ride the chair lift by herself, but I had the baby and they couldn't go 3 to a lift; so she had to do it. She got brave and did it!

Darren and T on the lift to go down the slide again

Ragin' Waters, I mean Seven Peaks SL

We went to Seven Peaks Salt Lake on Wednesday. I took some pics this time we went, and I am glad I did, because the kids were brave jumping of this rock into the deep water (they had lifejackets, but still). Always a fun day. We got lucky on weather again because it got cloudy and little rain, but cleared up in like 30 minutes.
Carter and Rach in wave pool-they can't get enough of it

Corbin and Rachel raced on this slide (He won!)

Darren got in on the fun (he joined us after work) He just let go of the rope swing (if that isn't clear from the picture)

Trevor jumping in

Just like the kids :) But a little higher and a bigger splash...

Carter even tucked his legs for the cannon ball

Rach did the rope swing (the first time she forgot to let go; but she did great!)

Rach jumping in too
